I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list

The beginning of another adventure. (English)

Sawatdee Kah,

Well well, I haven't been in Thailand before and as far as I know I've never met a Thai person before, and I already speak Thai fluently.

Hey everyone, welcome to my blog. Most of you haven't been reading my stories before because they were all in Dutch. I promised a while ago that I would start writing English since not all my friends speak Dutch. Note to all of you: a major weakness of mine is that I usually forget things that I've done after not writing them down. So there could be dark holes in my stories...

At the moment I'm in my last week of school and before departure I'll have two weeks vacation. My trip to a new continent again is coming very close and I am very excited. I'll let you know what I know already and for the rest you need to wait until I'm in Asia.

We will start our journey on sunday 16 March 2014 with about 90 students (International Tourism Management and Consultancy, NHTV Breda). We will fly with Singapore Airlines to, of course, Singapore where we will arrive the next day at 05:55. Two hours later our trip will continue to Yangon, Myanmar where we will arrive at 09:20. From this moment on we will have a busy but educational week. Most of you do not know Myanmar (in the past it was called Burma). The country has been isolated for over 50 years and since a short time it is accessible. We will have the opportunity to see how tourism development in Myanmar is going while it's not affected by mass-tourism (yet). Directly after arriving we will have a guided tour through Yangon. Considering the photo's, I can't complain. I though that we will visit some kind of touroperator on tuesday, but I am not sure. I will tell you later about that. But, what I do know is that on wednesday morning we will arrive at beautiful Bagan. All the students have been searching massively for photo's of the beautiful temples by sunrise. I can't wait until I can see it myself...

Then we will continue to the second part of the trip: Thailand. On saturday we will fly to Bangkok and a bus will bring us to some Beach Resort three hours from the capital. Unfortunately Bangkok is not planned in our schedule anymore because of its travel warnings. That night we will have a bustrip again to the South of the main-land where we eventually take the boat to Koh Samui. The first couple of days will be busy (also with parties), because a lot of business meetings are scheduled, but still... I'm very excited for that part as well! And then the third part will start. Every group takes off to their own area for two weeks of research. I'm in a group together with Pauline, Linda, Janika and Kim and we have chosen the Nathon area, which is located on the west of the island. Of course I will keep you up-to-date. Not only with boring stories, but also with beautiful photo's so you all can become (a little bit) jealous!

The last week we are allowed to travel around Thailand ourselves. I am planning to go to either Phuket or the Phi Phi Islands, because it's one of the hundred dreamdestinations of mine. Some of you might know or remember the Phi Phi Islands. Two years ago I applied for a placement there, but I chose Curaçao later on.

After celebrating Thai New Year, Half Moon Party and more parties which I don't know they excist, this wonderful trip (or holiday as some of you might call it) will, unfortunately, come to an end.

Take care!

Love,
Claudia.
